Do the Robot

This morning I spent some quality time on Etsy discovering just how cute robots can be.  I'm definitely sensing a new obsession.  Here's a view of my Treasury made up of the cutest robot-themed stuff:

I am in love with the My Little Pony robot and I actually just bought the mini robot necklace last week.  :)

I was so inspired by all of this cute stuff that I had to make my own robot design.  And birthday party invitations it was.  Who wouldn't want a robot-themed birthday party?!  :)

You can definitely expect to see some more adorable robots in the future.  I've already told me husband that if we have a baby boy we are going with this theme.  ;)

Brand New Product!

I'm so excited to announce that I have added a brand new kind of product to my shops: Fan Programs!  Late spring and early summer are very popular times for weddings, and many couples are choosing to hold outdoor ceremonies and/or receptions.  If the weather is warm, many guests will choose to use their programs as fans anyway, so why not provide them with both at once?

These Fan Programs are made from two sheets of cardstock, mounted to a wooden stick, so they are durable enough to withstand even the longest ceremony.  :)  And, of course, they are completely customizable!

Speaking of wedding season, fall weddings are right around the corner!  I've started to receive orders from Autumn brides, so I've added several new fall-themed wedding invitation styles.  These can also be made into save-the-dates for 2012 brides who like to plan ahead.  :)

I'll be adding another new product before the end of April, so check back soon!

New Color Scheme

I have a friend who is having a baby in just a couple more months. She and her husband decided that they weren't going to find out the gender of the baby, so they've been on the hunt for gender-neutral decorations, which, it turns out, are quite difficult to come by. The end result was a bird/bumblebee theme in shades of gray, green, and yellow. When I saw the nursery, I was sold.

Since then, I've been working with those colors to make some new designs, including this bird-themed baby shower invitation:

I couldn't stop there, though!  I also made some adorable bird-themed stickers that are perfect for baby shower favors.

I've also been hard at work trying to add some new kinds of products to my shops.  Check back soon for the announcement!

Bird Cage Weddings

I'll admit, I've never been much of a bird person.  That is, until recently.  It started with a nest that fell out of a tree and landed in the road in front of my house.  From my bedroom window, I saw the tiniest baby bird lying helpless in the middle of the road.  I rushed outside wearing plastic wrap over my hands because I couldn't find any gloves.  As gently as I could, I moved the baby bird into the grass and fed him some birdseed by hand.  I was automatically in love with that fluffy baby.  When the mother bird dive-bombed my head showed up, I figured the baby was safe to leave alone.

Then, in the middle of this (very long) Illinois winter, a few cardinals started showing up daily to eat the birdseed my husband and I left out on the back deck.  It was really amazing to see spots of bright red in an otherwise completely white landscape.  Soon we started seeing many more birds, including a fluffy puffball that had a bit of a crooked wing.  I like to think that it's the same one we rescued  :)

I began to pay more attention to bird-themed decor, especially as related to weddings.  Birds' nests and bird cages are pretty popular right now, and it's no wonder when you see pictures like this:

So I've decided to add my own touch to this popular idea with the following save-the-date cards and wedding invitation:

Bird-themed decor is quite diverse and doesn't have to be limited to weddings.  Next time I'll share some baby shower ideas!

Happy International Children's Book Day!

Sorry for the long delay between posts...I have been swamped for the past couple of weeks, which is definitely a good thing.  :)  I absolutely couldn't resist a post for today, though.  I am a huge children's book enthusiast/collector/fanatic, so this is one of my favorite "holidays."

I made an entire Treasury dedicated to some of my favorite children's books and those mentioned by my friends and fans on facebook.

It's super difficult for me to pick an absolute favorite, but Where the Wild Things Are (or really, anything that Maurice Sendak ever even looked at), The Secret Garden, and Percy Jackson are three of my big obsessions.  I actually ordered a version of this recycled book collage and I'm so excited for it to arrive soon!

And I am seriously considering buying this necklace for myself, or maybe hinting strongly to my husband that it would make a perfect Easter present.  :)

What are your favorite children's books and why?
